IT'S OFFICIALLY A GOAL-SHY TOUR!

Unless United are saving a basket full of goals for Wednesday's 'friendly' with FC Barcelona, it's fair to say that goals have not been 'our thing' on this particular pre-season tour. We scored a total of 2 goals in the 2 games in South Africa and then managed only the one in Shanghai. Yesterday was the day the floodgates were expected to open, not least because we were almost at full strength---at least attacking wise.

Fair play to the lads, they did create chance after chance and were denied by some excellent goalkeeping and defending especially in our last 2 games, but again, there is a rustiness about our attack that hopefully will be worn off before Goodison Park.

The other piece of concerning news is that we seem to be slowly easing ourselves into our customary injury crisis as the season beckons. Smalling is out till October nursing a meta-tarsal, Evans is still recovering from surgery (despite the whole summer break) and now we're being told that Phil Jones has left pre-season camp because of illness. It essentially means that we are as badly off in defence as the season ended.

Here's to a quick recovery for all of them.
