Yet another away draw, yet another dropped points in the dying seconds of a game.
You'd think that in any other season, United would have taken advantage of Chelsea's slump in form and pushed clear atop the league. Unfortunately however, the away draw curse has ensured that the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal that have lost at least five games are still title contenders. I mean we talk of the games in hand we have against Chelsea and Blackpool but again those are away games and given that we're hading into the final third of the season with just the one away win, you can't really say that we'd get maximum points in those games.
We seem unbeatable at home and yet our players shrink a but away from home. We did play well in the second half last night and we were unlucky not to go 2-0 up midway in that period but we let Birmingham on us in the last few seconds so it was almost always likely that they'd get an equaliser albeit in controversial circumstances.
It was a linesman that cost us the title last season and how fitting that another linesman cost us a precious away win in the last game of 2010. Here's to better luck in 2011.
The point was enough to keep us top of the league going into the new year and still unbeaten after 18 games but given that the next game is away to West Brom on Saturday, you can't help but feel that we'll not be top after Saturday if we fail to win at the Hawthorns.
