THE WAYNE ROONEY SHOW!

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney put on a hell of a show as England FINALLY got one over Croatia. However, that is not the point. Prior to the game, the self-proclaimed 'messiahs' of football(or is it pundits), led by Collymore had gone as far as asking Mr. Fabio Capello to drop the 23 year old as he had managed just a handful of goals for England in 4 years. It's quite a shame that such words can come from Englishmen who know it well that Rooney is among the FEW World Class players that any England manager can call on. The player and Lampard for instance had come out to remind the nation that Rooney gives far more to a team than just goals. It's why Sir Alex has never dropped him and it's why Capello, because of his football brain, will not drop him...and what a time he chose to silence his critics. Whilst the plaudists will go to Baby Theo Walcott for a memorable hat-trick, Capello and any other that have brains as good his, will know that Wayne put on a self-less and effective performance that ultimately undid the Croats. He more or less had a hand in all the goals scored and even got one himself. What England got from Wayne last night is what Manchester United get from him every week. The lad is actually not a striker but a playmaker. One should have noted that before Walcott scored his first, he was England's worst player on pitch. Wayne's ability to create for his teammates and turn games for them is what he should be judged upon. But what the heck, if England does not want him, United does and always will. Besides, UNITED>ENGLAND!
