THOUGHTS ON THE VILLARREAL GAME...

Well, we failed to get the win again but unlike Anfiled, this was more of a case of bad lunch than poor play. United ran rings round the Villarreal defence but just didn't have that extra element called luck. Carlos Tevez and or Danny Gibson should at least have scored---and of course if were last season, Ronaldo would have put his header away. However, it was not to be--credit to the Spaniards, they did put up a good show of defence and organisation while making few mistakes. Interestingly, we could have lost the game as the Yellow Submarines nearly made use of their only genuine chance in the '90. Thankfully, the post was in for justice. One wonders though if Garry will ever command a starting role in the United back four as his crosses were not like him. Having said that, it was good though, to have him lead the club out as he is Manchester United through and through--he plays with a passion comparable to none. Cristiano Ronaldo finally kicked d a ball for United again and what a reception he got from the fans--one would think that nothing of note, involving him, went on during the summer. It was great that there were no boos from the fans as I find it rather stupid for one to boo his own player. His arrival was certainly a shot in the arm for United as our best chances were created when he came on. He made 2 wonderful defence unlocking passes and got a chance of his own. He'll certainly be up for it come Sunday afternoon when United attempt to halt yet another long standing record in the league. Party Crashers do not need invitation and I'm sure we are not on Scolari's guest list.
